Pretty darn good sound.
I actually really like this system. It’s obviously not a $3000 surround sound system, but it fills up our small media room with great sound. It comes on automatically when I turn on the tv and we are in business. I’d buy it again, and in fact, I bought one for my child’s home.

First Real Home Audio
This is my first real AV system so I don’t have much to compare to. Sound absolutely destroys my old sound bar, never going back. Speakers that come with it are decent and get you started leaving an upgrade path in the future. Everything connected easily but didn’t come with enough speaker wire for my setup, which didn’t seem to extraordinary. The speaker wire is 18 gauge and I upgraded to some 16, didn’t notice any difference. Audiophile’s all seem to recommend lower gauge though and I needed more wire. The app only works with a few music streaming services, so if yours is included lucky you, mine isn’t so it was worthless for me. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

This is a complete system
Easy to install. I would suggest buying higher grade speaker wires, however. This is a great stereo system and a reasonable price.

Easy to install and powerful sound!
We wanted to upgrade our sound system. Delivery and packaging were great!I am not tech savvy by any means but was able to install this with no issues! The different setting options are great that you can adjust to whatever you are watching. I like the sleek design of the speakers that I can still have the powerful sound without the bulky speakers all over the room.Only downside is the receiver is a bit on the bulky side so I had to buy a platform for it to be able to sit on my floating tv stand. But other than that this is a great system!

Stopped working after firmware update
Had it for 3 weeks, it did a firmware update and now no picture, just sound. Contacted Amazon, they put me in contact with Yamaha. They could not fix it over the phone. They set up a pickup for the bad one for the next day by UPS. I had to buy a box to put it in because the original box is in the trash. They said they will send out a new one. We will see if the next one works. I will give an update.

This is a sexist Review... Do not read
This system is just like a beautiful woman. It looks awesome and sounds even better. If it doesn't want to work, then you are just gonna have to deal with it for a while, but is really worth it in the long run. All your friends will comment on how great it is so long they don't have to put up with the little details. They definitely don't get to touch it but they can admire. Samsung TV's will fight you with this. About the only way I get it to work long term is to run an expensive optical cable from the tv to the unit. No Problems now but it defeats the purpose of all those hdmi's on the back. To sum up, by the time you realize how much trouble this is, you have already spent so much time and money on it, you will just be happy to sit down and watch tv.

Its alright.
This is a tough review to write. I really want to like this setup but it feels like somethings missing. I have used cheaper 5.1 setups in the past such as the Logitech Z906 and before this I was just using a Yamaha soundbar in my living room where this has been installed.Ill start with the things I like first, and that is the amount of ports on the device. I have yet to properly test the hdmi 2.1 as i heard that isnt what it seems, so ill update this after I test it. There are a lot of settings in the GUI to tweak as well. Bluetooth worked easily for me and my phone / laptop which was nice when i wanted to conveniently have room audio off a device in my lap. They also have a virtual surround setup if you cant put speakers behind you and a calibration tool to help tweak audio. There are some cons however. The initial setup isnt that Intuitive. Firstly they just send youa cable bundle and you have to strip your own cables. This is cool, but also sucked cause i didnt want to do that. They dont include tools for this which could make a frustrating experience for some. After I did this (luckily im an IT with my own tools..) I setup the speakers in a virtual audio setup per their instruction sheet. I did the audio calibration and it sounded really mid. Turns out the subwoofer only can be adjusted manually which idk if is standard but my Z906 didnt have this issue (but also didnt have a receiver). Tweaking that and doing one more config has it sounding alright, but adjusting the volume is tough. It frequently feels either to high or to low, and its fairly laggy when adjusting so quick adjusts just arent that feasible.Other thoughts: Just some random things I have encountered, this receiver needs to be around 40-50% to produce audible noise which compared to any other audio setup i have used feels quite high. The speakers all feel super light (like insanely light) so im confident in the quality. Audio tech doesnt beed to be heavy, but these feel like toys. I have seen other reviews complaining about the instructions and they were right. There are many features in this device and yamaha just explains none of it in the package. The UI doesnt properly describe things either. IE there is a function for this thing to get ethernet over HDMI from your TV. I had no idea if it was telling me to plug the Ethernet into this box and it would shoot the ethernet over or vice versa. It later did a firmware update while it was on the TV so i think thats the way it works.Overall, I could probably write more, but i think ive said enough. Its an OK setup if you dont want to pick your own equipment. If I had a do over (which i might if that hdmi 2.1 passthrough doesnt work as some old reviews stated) then i would just buy a reputable receiver and some decent 2.1 speakers. Seeing this on sale got me shooting to high and now im kinda just confused.
