Slumberjack Hone Backpack Kryptek Highlander

Love the backpack. It is a little smaller than what I was thinking, but it'll be okay because it'll be great as a day pack!

What sets this bag apart from other hunting packs is the rifle rest, but there are a ton of other features also included with this bag that one might not realize until you have it in hand to use.The front section of the pack extends out from the main compartment, giving you a spot to sandwich gear in the middle, holding it securely even though it's not inside the pack itself. Great place for shoving cold weather gear like a pair of bibs or jacket, just rolling it up first.The design of the bag works well for all kinds of hunting. No shiny metal anywhere on it, including the zippers or buckles. So the pack works well even when using it for trips out waterfowl hunting, where you don't want anything shiny or reflective at all.The fabric the bag is made of is ultra quiet. It's made of that very soft material that works so well even in super cold weather when other fabrics would start to freeze up and could start to make noise. Living in Minnesota means deer, grouse, waterfowl and pheasant hunting seasons here are in some of the coldest parts of the year. So some fabrics that are supposed to be quiet, aren't so quite when the temperatures fall below zero. This bag is.The inside of the bag is done in a lighter brown color rather than something dark like black which would made it harder to see into in low light situations. The lining is a nylon material that's pretty easy to wipe out with a wet rag.Everything about the bag is adjustable. You can loosen or tighten the straps and buckles as needed. The belt that goes around the waist and shoulder straps both can be set to your specific fit, and both are padded just enough to be comfortable for carrying heavy gear. No digging into shoulders or your sides.And then of course they've included a rifle rest so you can carry your gun. Works great for shotguns as well. There are nylon straps to hold the forestock/forearm of the gun in place so it doesn't slide around on the pack and there's plenty of room in the pockets for boxes of ammo.The way this pack is designed, it works well for so many types of hunting. It can transition from your waterfowl season bag where you'll be using a shotgun, to being your deer season pack (both bow season and riffle season, since the backpack can carry both). And then when the seasons are closed for the year, it makes for an outstanding ice fishing gear pack. Awesome bag!

this is now my full-time hunting bag. It is very nice and very good quality construction. i love the feel of the material. All of the buckles are tight and function well. nothing missing or broken, no missed stitches or hanging threads. great job on constructionPockets for everything even gives you a place for either a rifle, bow, or even a tent and sleeping back on the outside of the bag.Hard backing so what ever you put inside the bag wont dig into your back. it even has the waist strap for added load balancing and sucuring to your self. all straps including the waist are padded well and have solid straps and buckles where needed. My only suggestion would be to make the waist strap removable incase there is a time i do not need it. currently if you do not use the waist strap it just hangs there or bunches up between the bag and yourself. Otherwise this think is solid and a great addition to my gear

This backpack has a lot of great pockets in it and lots of intuitive easy to reach places to stow items. The zippers are big and sturdy and easy to use. The zippers also can be covered, though it is from the front, not the top, so I would be concerned about water collecting there. I am sure there was a design reason for this. The hip pockets are substantial and easily reached.Trying to describe how this works, I would have to say it feels resourceful. It has the places and ideas that a hiker or a hunter would need. When you go to reach for something, this backpack is going to have the right place to keep things. And it is intuitive in being able to reach things without taking the backpack off. This pack absorbs a lot of supplies.I am generally a hiker, not a hunter, but I have carried weapons before and see how easy it would be to safely carry a rifle with this pack. The carry system apparently would also carry a bow but I didn't have one available to test it with.The colors are perfect for summer or fall in Michigan though sometimes I feel like I should wear a spinning light on top of my head to keep people from shooting. One week left for free roaming. LOL.

As far as a daypack for hunting goes, it's pretty good.Quality and durability are good, lots of little pouches and pockets, and I like the butt pouch. It's comfortable to wear, it distributes weight evenly, and the straps keep it balanced and stable.That said, I have two minor complaints. First, it's kind of heavy for a backpack. That's not awful, but if I'm walking around all day with this (or especially if I want to go on a multi-day hike, the weight is a bit much. Second, for all the pouches and stuff, there's not a lot of space. I wouldn't say it's small, but for a backpack this size (especially one with waist and chest straps) I'd expect more space.

I got this for my husband, who is ex-military and has a somewhat strange bag fetish. Here are his words:This backpack is as close to military grade as you'll ever get. It's actually better than the backpack I had to carry.The material is waterproof. It's easy to wipe clean.I'm in awe at the amount of storage and all the various pockets this bag has.The weapon carry system blew me away. It's the smartest design I've seen, and it works well.This does not need to be specific for hunters. It's ideal for camping, hiking, or any outdoor adventure.The bag is comfortable to wear. Weight distribution is ideal, and the material doesn't rub and irritate.Now I can't wait to get out and use it!
