Does not work on all systems
I consider myself fairly technically inclined and also proactive when considering technical equipment, but I don't know everything, this item cost me a lot of time and wasted money and effort.I called Ecobee support to confirm my HVAC system would be compatible to the Ecobee 4 system and was told it would work with a minor difference in wiring, I was sent a diagram and followed it with ease.To interject Ecobee support is one of the finest and most accessible team I've encountered I would rate them at 5+++ stars.Never the less I was told, prior to connecting for the Tech who sent the wiring diagram that the HVAC system would only work 1 stage, well I'm NOT a HYVC Tech and asked what that meant, I was told there are two fan stages High and Low, but it would work on one.After an easy install (during moderate weather) it seemed to work flawlessly, I loved the fact the system has a remote sensor so when there is motion in a room it will come on to the desired temperature automatically.Unfortunately, I discovered the AC would not go below 78 and I called out 6 service techs to check what was happing, they all diagnosed it as a defective compressor even after I asked if they thought the Thermostat was the problem and got a "Rolling Eye" response. I called Ecobee three times and they reviewed the system online and claimed everything was connected right and something else was the cause.I figured I'd address it before next summer until I put on the Heat, the furnace would not fire up, obviously I contacted Ecobee and got the same answer as before. Out of exasperation I contacted another HVAC Tech and with one look he said "that thermos is not computable to 2 stage high efficacy systems".Ecobee claims it should but it may not with some systems.The bottom line is, the Ecobee 4 is a very nice thermostat, but if you have a "2 stage high efficiency system" look elsewhere.

Home IQ does not work!
Home IQ does not give me reports. Told by Tech Support that it requires an additional two weeks after the month to be reported to generate reports. I waited nearly three weeks just to get the notice - “May's Runtime Reports Are UnderwayWe are still processing your runtime data for May. Check back soon.”Also, unable to download data. Support told me that was because I use apple OS and the Ecobee System runs on Microsoft. This was not mentioned to me at the time of purchase!
