I really would have preferred NOT writing this review. I liked the product when I first received it, the instructions were clear, and for the first couple of days, it caught a couple of critters. I was pleased.Then, the traps would not stay set. They started going off by themselves. I cleaned them thoroughly, and tried resetting them while placed on a table. After 30 to 90 seconds, they would snap. Upon closer examination, I discovered that the clasp just barely contacts the bar, and because the spring is very powerful, it quickly slides off. You can see the issue in the picture ... and I can find no way to adjust it.I bought a 4 pack, and 3 of the traps have the same problem after only a few days of use. I've tried reaching out to the company but there is no response to either my Amazon email, or a direct email. I've asked if there is something I can do to adjust these so they will work. I'll update this review IF I ever hear back from them.UPDATE: May 23, 2017 I was hoping this could "work out" since apparently it had for someone else. I did receive an email from the company saying they would be happy to replace the items if I provided the order number and shipping address. I did that TWICE. The only thing I've received since then was silence. The photos are pretty clear ... it's a faulty product ... and sadly though so many have had the same result, the company is not standing behind their product. So sad ...

We bought these rat traps to "catch" rats that somehow made a home in our chicken coop. We love our girls and are non violent people but we had to make a stand when it came to our "babies". My husband caught one rat, then two...he has disposed of a half dozen rats in that many days. Thanks to your product, we have safe chickens and peaceful sleep at night. Thank you.

I pretty much agree with everything said in the other reviews here. I've been using these for a few months and have caught seven rats so far and a mouse. These rodent traps are extremely good at catching rats -- I've never had a rat trap go off without catching a rat. This is important because you don't want the rats to get trap-shy.

I'm not convinced that the traditional type of snap trap is any better. In other respects, these traps have it all over the traditional wooden traps. They are very easy to set and never go off by accident while you're placing the traps. The bait cup is cleverly designed and well-positioned. Not only have I never had a trap go off without catching a rat, but I've also never had bait stolen.

I get the impression that trap positioning has a lot to do with the way the rat ends up getting caught. With traditional trap positioning along walls, I don't think the rat is necessarily even after the bait in many cases -- it just happens to blunder into the trap as it's going about its business. Anyways these Rat Traps work for me.

Ok..we have an inclosed patio which have been taken over at night time by rats. Our neighbor leaves out nuts for the squirrels we have and the rats take those (the neighbor has a dog) and bring those over to our patio to eat and leave a mess and with young kids that is a problem. We tried it the "safe" way using that electronic sonic device and that worked for awhile but they got used it to after we had to "turn it down" by the local police...LOL. Then we tried poison and that didn't seem to get rid of them as a mess was still there after using that for awhile.So, out final solution were these traps.First, the bait cup is great.. I just added peanut butter ( which I heard that you should use on rats but have never tried it) and pull down the bar and it clicked in place and you are ready to go. I love that!! No more getting your finger smashed by a hair trigger device... your fingers are not near the "slammer" as I call it, and it's simple to put down where you want it without worries that it will trip.Within hours (I am being honest here) we had 2 kills after they came out after dark..Amazing!!!Woke up this mornings and found another one too!Cleaning up is great too! Just pull back the green bar and they just drop...no mess and no touching them.I highly recommend this product to anyone who has rodents problems and have tried everything else.

Best traps ever. Every Spring I have rat issue especially because I have fruit trees. I have used all kinds of traps hands down this is the best trap I have EVEN used. 1) Super easy to set 2) When you catch a rat the double bar makes dumping the rat easy. With the wood and metal ones I would throw the whole trap out because I did not want to touch the bar that held the rat neck down. 3) Love the food bowl which makes it easy to add food to the trap. 4) The padding on the bar that comes down did not cut the rat, so no blood to clean up. So far I have caught 10 rats! Yikes I know!
