This waver is very similar to a hair crimper, but much bigger leaving you with zig zag style waves rather than curls.It doesn't take long to do, so much quicker than curling with a hair wand.My hair is quite fine and I do find with this the results lasts a long time which is fab!It is quite heavy to hold, but once you get he hang of it is so easy to use.I'm very happy with this product. I hoped the waver would be easy peasy....First things first, this is like a giant hair crimper which leaves sort of zig zag waves in your hair.The first attempt to do my hair with this left me looking like Rumplestiltskin in his angry wig- my hair was massive and not beachy at all, (unless you consider landing on a beach after a parachute jump, beachy).The second attempt was much better- I curled (or more, crimped) from the ends up towards the root so I didnt overlift the roots and that gave me a better effect- although still quite 'Tina Turner in the 80s' big.Third attempt and I've gotten the hang of it- i have mermaid crimp waves now. This time I alternated the angle I crimped my hair at and did a combination of uniform waves and random crimps at different angles. That seems to help.Here is my personal list of Pros and cons.Pros: Gets hotDoesn't take long to do (much quicker than curling)Result lasts agesFree arm workout because its quite heavyTemperature controlled so you dont frazzle your hairSwivvel cord makes it easier to hold/angleLooks like it will last as seems to be good quality.On/off switchCons: Gets freakishly hot on both sides of the press so you can get easily burntIt quite heavyClamping it shut takes quite some effort- I got hand crampTemperature control dial is super sensitive and in a daft place on the handleCan make you look like RumplestiltskinTricky to get the hang ofOverall I am quite happy with this product. Its relatively cheap and once you get the hang of it, its quite easy to use, albeit heavy and difficult to hold closed. Large loose waves can be achieved quickly and easily. One has thick hair and one has thin hair but it works on both hair types. My daughter with thinner hair kept her wavy hair for a couple of days, but with thicker hair, it dropped out after she slept on them. But this isn't difficult to use, section, wave and let wave cool.
