Great microphone
I bought this kit recently and I am very pleased with it. I use this microphone for my Nikon D5100. I plug it directly into the camera. Now, before I go on, I should let you know I am very new to filming with DSLRs and equipment like this in general. I cannot compare this to say the RODE Videomic Pro as this is the only microphone I have ever used. I chose this mic for several reasons. One, the design. This thing is made out of metal, and is very compact and easy to travel with. Two, the 20db boost. To my knowledge, there are not too many affordable microphones out there with this option (I know the Rode Videomic Pro has this, but other than that I am not sure. Please correct me if I am wrong). Three, I am somewhat of a risk taker, and I have seen virtually no reviews for this product. There were some, but they all seemed like Que Audio could have been paying them to make these reviews, as they were all reviews with a high budget, or by Que themselves. I figured someone had to be the guinea pig, so I went ahead and ordered it. I am very happy I did. You'll notice I have mentioned the Rode Videomic Pro quite a few times. You might be wondering why I didn't purchase this microphone instead. It has more people saying it is a good product, and it is about $100 cheaper. Well, I had read reviews where people said the thing fell apart on them, and I preferred the design of this mic much more. How does it sound? Well, like I said earlier, I am very new to this. But from what I can tell, it sounds excellent. Obviously, being plugged directly into my DSLR, it isn't perfect, but I think it is pretty great. I cannot give specific details, because I am a noob. However, if anyone would like, feel free to ask and I will make a video of this mic and it's different settings. I can film outside, indoors, windscreen or not, just ask and I will do it.I hope this helps you guys. I know that I wish I could have found a review for this mic before I bought it, as that always helps me make a decision. Like I said, I think it is a great product. If you have any questions at all about this kit, feel free to ask!

I tried it with Nikon D7000
I used this mic with my D7000 Nikon.Camera settings were:- Manual mic volume set to: "Low"I tried at first without mic batteries, there was a massive hissing and the recorded voice was too low. Then tried it with the batteries in, mic was put on a tripod very close to the interviewee but out of the screen, I got a louder voice but still slightly below average and less hissing, I used the foam windscreen that comes with it and also the fluffy moth over it and there's still some hissing despite the room was quite and no A/C is on.I tried to modify camera setting to "medium", "high" but the best results were with "low".Last solution I tried was to edit the sound graphic equalizer during video production, it enhanced the reduction of the hissing dramatically even more.*Cons:- A downside of this mic is it doesn't have any on-mic settings.- I tried a standard wireless clip mic, the quality was close to this mic, but i paid for the "Que Audio" triple the price.*Pros:- Compact size.- The kit is complete and inclusive of all the accessories you need.- better than camera's built in mic.- can be screwed to camera tripod, or with monopod and use it as a boom. Finally, I wrote about my experience after trying the mic for two days, if anybody has some tips to make it work better or any advices please do share it here.Sincerely,Hussam

Great microphone with amazing portability
Great microphone with amazing portability. Mucha smaller then RODE but sounds just as good if not better! Only downside is batteries are small and not as convenient to have extras but they do last up to 150 hours.
