Not a Computer Guru? This is for you!
I am so bad at technology, and it seems like those that review technology products know ALL there is to know .. so much so I can't understand their reviews. So I'm writing this like I'd like to see it. This product is GREAT. I already had Clear, but I had a Clearstick that plugged into my laptop. Well, Amazon put its Firestick on sale and I wanted the stream the movies that Amazon Prime offers. So I bought one. Well, then I had to get wireless. Clear didn't sell the hardware any more, and Sprint (they merged) wanted a 2 year contract for internet services. I'm stubborn .. I don't like contracts for that stuff. My sister bought a Virgin Mobile Hot Spot for me, but it took so long to buffer the movies it was worthless. So I took a shot and bought this. I plugged it in and had a few problems. I called the number on the paperwork in the box. Got a real person who spent an hour with me on the phone, and not only did he get this working for my computer, he helped me line up the Firestick, then he helped me rename my network so I'd recognize it and change the password on the firestick that my sister had put on there (32 random digits .. sheesh) .. and all is working well. The movies download quickly, my computer works while I watch and all is good! I highly recommend it for anyone because with Clear's great customer service .. it's EASY. Thank you Tim at Clear! and I love the Firestick and Amazon Prime!

It works great!
I've been a Clear customer since 2010. I decided to let go of my cable because I'm sick of the high bills and I watch Amazon, Netflix and Youtube videos mostly anyway. I needed to upgrade my Clear device so that I can connect my smart tv and laptop, I bought this device and so far it's working beautifully. My internet connection is fast. Now Clear tried to play me when I called to activate this device. They tried to tell me that they were no longer activating new accounts. They actually said that they stopped activating new devices that very day I called. I new it was total BS.The man on the phone spoke horrible English and didn't understand that I was trying to switch form one device to another. My Clear bill was due in a few days so I told him to just cancel my account because I didn't appreciate them trying to play me. Then he connected me to a better English speaking person who understood what I was trying to do and he activated the modem for me. I think the threat of me canceling my account is what did it.But beware. If you do not already have a Clear account don't bother buying any Clear devices. Don't get me wrong, this is a great device and I love it. But you'll be wasting your money buying it because Clear is no longer staring new accounts. If you already have a Clear account and just want to upgrade to a new device then it's okay to buy this modem.

As miserable as trying to have sex with the DMV, even Clear Corporation employees don't use this service cause it aint so fast
The self installation / provisioning process is unbelievably stupid !i dismissed all of the negative reviews and ignored the warnings because I'm a networking professional and I foolishly believed other people's bad experiences couldn't happen to me since I'm in already inside a strong 4G coverage area and I could avoid the headaches of the average cellular owner since I'm skilled at shaping RSSI, latency and well versed with implementing end to endpoint connectivity / but that still can't make it work.It arrives with a unique user ID and password printed on the bottom with "easy self sign up + installation" steps that feels about as easy brushing your teeth with an open flame. The device connects itself and displays a strong signal status on a device management page and has all the links for self provisioning online, then it becomes a nightmare.Despite the devices self awareness of its location and signal, their online activation page insists your primary address isn't within the coverage area despite the fact you're CLEARLY using the device online just to be rejected as being out of coverage ! And that assumes you aren't scared away by Firefox's and Internet Explorers insistent warnings the WEB signup page isn't a forgery trying to steal your credit card info.*The self signup page reasonably demands the primary address of service but IT REJECTS EVERY ADDRESS YOU GIVE IT, EVEN IF YOU TRY TO SIGNUP WITH Clear Inc's OWN Mailing ADDRESS AT THEIR SEATTLE HOME OFFICE. All of the sales web sites insist they cover your location but when using every self signup PAGE, your activation attempts are rejected even their Headquarters address isn't serviced by their own wireless. **Calling them on the phone is as miserable as renewing your license plates at the DMV, their reps have heavy foreign accents and insist you repeat yourself to the point of shouting until they disconnect the call because you're shouting !!!!I called their Seattle home offices during business hours ( 425 216 7600 ) pleading for any type of help and they brushed me off unapologetically insisted I just keep calling the same useless 1800 number until I find someone that understands engwrish. It is too bad because my signal strength is in a strong 4G coverage area and a quick network test shows minimal latency, but a tracert comparing other broadband providers shows faster network response from Clear's web site using SBC DSL, TimeWarner, despite traveling longer distances across more hops even a StraightTalk connection (Sprint 3G) still reaches their web in fewer milliseconds than Clear's own network to one of their own internal network sites. If you're already a Clear user consider yourself lucky it works and if you're considering buying one of these....just move in and rent from one of your friends who already have it because too many Clear barriers stand between you and the web.ALL FOOTNOTES ARE INSIDE THE FIRST REVIEW COMMENT ALONG WITH WEB LINKS.+++ UPDATE +++Was put in touch with a Level 2 Activation Specialist who seemed sincere enough but sheepishly explained they're required to ask me if I was happy with my current TV service and apologetically explained they're required to explain the limited time only offer an get for discounted GeekSquad Service from BestBuy while trying to activate my account.Uh, MuggaFuddah, the BestBuy GeekSquad CALLS ++ME++ FOR TECH SUPPORT, SO UHHHHH, GOODBYE.
